Katharina Lorenz is Associate Professor in Classical Studies at the Department of Classics. Her expertise lies in the area of Greek and Roman art and archaeology, especially Greek and Roman painting and sculpture, visual narrative and spatial appropriation. She is the author of Bilder machen Räume. Mythenbilder in Pompeii (De Gruyter, 2008) and Understanding Ancient Mythological Images (forthcoming with Cambridge University Press); she has written articles on Roman domestic and funerary imagery, on story-telling in Greek and Roman art, on the historiography of Classical archaeology as a discipline, and on theoretical approaches for a history of ancient art.
