About
Hi, I am currently in the final year of my PhD in the School of Education. It is primarily concerned with studying how Doctoral students adopt and use the social web for their academic practice and identity development. More generally, I'm interested in the wider fields of student learning and learning technologies in Higher Education and all aspects of the social web.
I graduated and worked in technical illustration before studying an MA in Interactive Art and Design at University College Falmouth, where I was later employed as a Research Assistant at iRes - http://ires.falmouth.ac.uk - a research cluster engaged in Network Art and Design.
I subsequently undertook a studentship with the Visual Learning Lab (VLL) - http://www.visuallearninglab.ac.uk/ - at the University of Nottingham, completing my MA in Research Methods and gaining external funding from the ESRC for my PhD. I continued working with the VLL for a year as a student intern promoting visual learning across the University.
I collaborated with LeRoy Hill in designing and presenting sessions at Graduate Centres in the University for PhD students and Early Career Researchers in the use of social media for academic practices. I'm currently managing a project and internship programme developing an event and web resource for shared practice in this area.
I was also a core team member of New Research Trajectories - http://newresearchtrajectories.net/ - a AHRC student initiative exploring experimental and creative forms of doctoral research dissemination.
