About
My PhD thesis considers three things in a interlocking manner:
1. The weaknesses of the communitarian/liberalism debate in political philosophy and theology particularly when it considers the phenomena of neoliberalism and the ability hence to systematically analyse modern capitalism.
2. The place of religion in early neoliberalism (German ordo-liberalism in particular) and the proto-communitarianism found therein (displaying the weakness of communitarianism).
3. The relationship between capitalism as religion (pace Benjamin, Goodchild et al.) and economics as its theology (justifying the ways of the market to men etc.) and, hence, the application of the tools of philosophy of religion (within and outside Christianity and the Western tradition) to mainstream economics within neoliberal hegemony.
